Welcome to the 26th Colony! 26th Halifax is a well-established and inclusive group, rich in history dating back to 1953.
Beaver Scouts is the youngest of the Scouts Canada Sections. Beavers welcomes boys and girls the ages of 5-7. Fun and friendship is the cornerstone of the Beaver Scouts program.
Learning by doing is the Scouting Method and Beaver Scouts do all kinds of fun and exciting things! Beaver Scouts like to spend a lot of time outside. Together they might go on nature hikes, learn to build a simple shelter, have a campfire, experience their first-time camping – it’s all about exploring and trying new things.
Helping others is also an important part of being a Beaver Scout. Whether it’s helping to keep a park tidy through a clean-up project or helping a friend try something new, it’s all about teamwork and cooperation. Beaver Scouts are always there to lend a hand.

Pick -up/Drop-off Procedures:
We have very specific drop off and pick up procedures so as to ensure your child’s safety:
- When a Beaver is dropped off, whoever is dropping them off must check in with a leader to confirm the child has arrived. In keeping with Scouts Canada Policies a Leader can never be left alone with a child; there must be two adults present.
- At pick-up, every Beaver must be checked off the attendance list by a leader before leaving, and must be picked up inside the hall. Beavers will not be dismissed until someone is present in the hall to pick them up. Please ensure you arrive by 7:15 pm for pick-up. Leaders will not send a child home with anyone else unless previously specified by parents/guardians. Please ensure your Beaver remembers to collect all their belongings before leaving
Beaver’s Behavioral and Safety Guidelines:
We created this Code of Conduct to ensure EVERY member always feels safe, included and — respected following the Beaver Law and idea of RESPECT! – A Beaver has fun, works hard and helps family and friends – Beaver Law
Beavers will:
- listen and follow directions at all times
- show RESPECT to all people and property involved with our group — violence, bullying or intimidation will never be tolerated;
- follow a “hands-off” policy, including any wrestling or roughhousing;
- not use or throw anything in a way that can harm another person or themselves;
- work together as a team and not exclude anyone from any activity;
- keep their hands off others’ property and not damage the property of others;
- use water bottles for drinking and not “flip” them during Beaver events;
- use appropriate language during Beaver events;
- take part in all Beaver events and do their best;
- actively listen to Leaders, volunteers and guests and follow their directions;
- will remain in the gym unless they have permission, stay away from areas that maybe dangerous.
Leaders will make sure these guidelines are followed by all Beavers.
- If Beavers don’t follow these guidelines, they will have to take a break from activities to reflect on how they could have made better choices.
- If Beavers continue to not follow these guidelines, leaders will meet with their parents to talk about how to address the situation or behaviour.
