06 Nov Cabin Fundraising Meeting – November 12th at St. Agnes Church Hall 7:00 pm
Hello Families of the 26th,
As you may or may not be aware that we fortunate to hold a cabin at Miller Lake in Fall River! This is a rustic place that allows our youth to explore nature safely without having to travel too far outside the city.
We have been without the use of our well-loved cabin for some time now as it has underwent fairly in-depth repairs. Thanks to the hard work of a number of people and the generous donations received for this project last year, we are now very close to being able to re-open our cabin for use our youth; however we still have one major project to complete. We must build a new fire escape to replace the previously thirty year old one we removed last year. There are also a number of smaller projects such as interior painting and cleaning that is required.
In order however to complete this needed work, we need the financial support. Currently Scout Canada Policies prohibit us from using monies raised by youth or collected to support programs such as the Group Registration Fee. We have a parent, Troy Desbarres, who is very interested in organizing ways both financial and labor-related to complete the work necessary and get our beloved cabin operational again.
Parents of all youth (Beavers to Ventures) are invited to join us on Tuesday, November 12th at St. Agnes Church Hall 7:00 pm to discuss this important undertaking. Come help us! You can RSVP us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
